Project #7- Create a Children's Book
Create your own Picture Book
You will be creating your own Children’s Book over the next several days. In your picture book, you will be explaining the concept of responsibility or kindness to a pre-school or early elementary school student. At the end of your project, the class will vote on who made the best book.
You will need to include the following in your book and your PowerPoint.

You will be creating your own Children’s Book over the next several days. In your picture book, you will be explaining the concept of responsibility or kindness to a pre-school or early elementary school student. At the end of your project, the class will vote on who made the best book.
You will need to include the following in your book and your PowerPoint.
- Characters—people, animals, or numbers
- One page must have a hand-drawn example of an illumination.
- Concept of responsibility or kindness
- Storyline—explain your concept by telling a story using your characters
- Your book must be at least 10 pages in length—not including the covers (12 total).
- You must have at least 5 pictures in your book that take up at least ½ a page each. The pictures must be your own photos or given credit (website listed where you got it)
- You must have at least 20 lines of text.
- You must have a front cover with the book’s title, a picture, and the author’s (your) name.
- You must have a back cover with a five-sentence summary of your book and at least 2 “reviews” about why your book is great!
- You must keep your audience in mind. Your audience can be anywhere from preschool to grade 3. Make your pictures, text, and vocabulary are appropriate for your age group.
- Your slides must be printed, mounted, and bound by the end of the last work day.
- You can add color to your slides by using crayons, markers, colored pencils, scrapbook paper, or printing in color at home. This is not required, but you may wish to do so.
